Make your own oils from your garden for Christmas

Sample Title
Fresh from your garden

Erika Pepe joins us again to discuss what we could use from our garden now that the season is over. She tells us that cuttings and berries can be turned into lovely personal gifts and even the humble hawthorn berries can provide us with a heart boosting mix. Other plants can also have health-giving properties.
Where do we start? If you are pruning your rosemary hedge, don't throw away all the trimmings…why not make some rosemary oil by chopping up and putting it in a bottle? If you save your old bottles or maybe even buy a few pretty ones, the result could be a gift of this fragrant oil for someone at Christmas. You can also use it for a bath salt or make tea with it. Erika is going to be putting some of the recipes on her website at www.lunarorganics.com so you can try these out. The tea is really easy as you only have to put some chopped up rosemary in a cup and pour water over it. You could do the same with mint or other herbs too.
A lot of these can also be added to olive oil in the same way as the rosemary and with a sprig of the plant in the bottle look really attractive.
Lots more in the programme for you to try including sloe gin!
At the beginning of the programme we mentioned green tomato chutney and you will find a recipe for this on our site via the search at the top of every page.
You can also buy a Moon Gardening pack including a calendar and she has a variety of organic seeds on sale to encourage more wildlife.
