Toussaint tribute

All hail All Saint's Day at the beginning of November. In France, Toussaint warrants a two-week holiday for school children and a golden opportunity for their parents and grandparents to place pots of chrysanthemums on their ancestors' graves. A sombre affair. Not so the joyful rhythm & blues of New Orleans. And it just so happens that November marks the first anniversary of the death of one of the Crescent City's patron saints: singer, songwriter, producer, pianist and jobbing genius, the modest and charming Allen Toussaint. So this month, our resident DJ celebrates the life, hits, influences and cohorts of the man behind the controls at Sea-Saint Studios, Noo Orleenz. Sprinkle with a few new releases and it'll get you 'huffin' and puffin' and chuggin' like a choo-choo train'. Welcome to the 'Land of 1,000 Dances'.
