Artist Simon Beck spends days working in the snow in snowshoes creating these sensational patterns of snow art. He works up to 10 hours a day to produce works of art that are up to three football pitches in size! Some of the intricate patterns can we viewed from high ground and appear to be 3D graphics.
Simon who is 54, comes from southern England but spends his winters in the French ski resort of Les Arcs creating beautiful geometric patterns in the snowfields around the resort. An alumni of Oxford University, Simon works as a mapmaker converting maps for orienteering.
His internet home is on Facebook where you can find pictures of his work as well as an interesting set of interviews. How long the designs survive is completely dependent on the weather. Why does Simon do this? The main reason seems to be that he has problems with his feet which prevent him undertaking normal winter sports.
