Expatsradio is closing the studio door for the last time at the end of this month. Although there will be no new programmes after that the site will stay live until the end of January 2017.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have participated in our programmes, mailed us or simply tuned in to hear what we have on offer. It will be a great wrench not to be sitting in this studio on Dartmoor which has served us so well over the history of the station. Our idea has always been to produce good quality programming and make the expat experience less daunting. The EPR team will continue making high quality audio for other organsations but I shall be stepping down as the Media Director. My career has been long starting with a foot over a studio threshold in 1962. Much has changed including the advent of digital media and the explosion of internet services. Some say that this explosion has meant that anyone can broadcast from their bedroom these days and as the result the quality has gone down. Maybe, but there is also the flip side of the coin in that media is now truly free and can tell stories that previously would have been hidden or controlled by the few. Whatever your view it is important that we keep moving forward and encouraging new developments and hopefully, enjoying the fruits of the many talented broadcasters out there.
I wish you all a wonderful expat Christmas and New Year and hope you will enjoy the last few programmes we shall be adding to Expatsradio this month.
